Ersari people are Turkoman Tribes, originally nomadic. Their rugs have a dense and almost velvet chenille like appearance. The rugs are traditional designs and motifs, more recently being made with a wider colour palette.

Ersari people are one of the most important of Turkoman Tribes, originally nomadic, they mostly settled in Northern Afghanistan in the bordering areas around Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, where they continue to produce these outstanding rugs.
There are very few remaining Ersari Weavers hence less Ersari rugs being made resulting in less availability than some of the other Afghan rugs.
