Description
Darya rugs are modern and contemporary some simple patterns, others abstract in new colour combinations for 21st century homes. Thick hand knots make the rugs very soft, almost fluffy and pliable in feel.
Made by weavers in Aqchae and Andkhoy, both cities located in the Northern regions of Afghanistan. These rugs take aspects of old Turkish, Afghan and Persian rugs simplified, sometimes into abstract movement of colours across the rug, some being quite modern and contemporary. Our Afghan weavers have combined new colour combinations to work in 21st century homes.
The handspun wool is dyed using traditional vegetable and local dye recipes before the wool pile is knotted onto a woollen warp. Because these are all wool with thick knots the rugs are very soft, almost fluffy and pliable in feel.
